Following up a couple of posts on the subject.

I have a Tungsten T3 running palm os 5.2.1 (TT3Updated from palm site)
Using a GPS receiver I-Blue BT737, with MTK chipset , Bluetooth 1.2 protocol, 32 channels and autoswitchoff/stand by feature.

After many attempts only now my tomtom 6.0 is working on a T3. Since it took me so long to make it, I thought may experience could be valuable for the community!
Here is the summary of the findings:

- installing tomtom on a fast enough SD card (> 133) and large enough (1Gb at least)
- KEEPING THE RECEIVER OFF, start tomtom sw
- get into the GPS configuring page and
- set up tomtom to "General GPS Bluetooth device"
- wait a couple of seconds and only then, switch the gps receiver on
- you will hear a first little beep
- complete the receiver pairing procedure, entering the pairing code (usually 0000)
- tag the "trusted bt devices" tag
- after a couple of sec you will hear a "tick" like sound and a second beep: the device is now connected
- after 10 to 60 sec you should get the GPS satellity signals connected and tomtom should indicate your position
- VERY IMPORTANT: when you log off from tomtom, always use the switch off sofware icon. (browse the third menu page, by clicking on the screen display and touch the right arrow icon two times)
- Switching off sequence - VERY IMPORTANT: when you log off from tomtom, always switch off the SW first and then the GPS Receiver
- Switching on sequence - VERY IMPORTAN: always switch the palm on at first, then run tomtom and switch the GPS receiver on only when you get the "connecting to GPS device" message on the tomtom display. If you don't follow this procedure, very likely the T3 will lock up, because there must be some incompatibility on the bluetooth handling protocols
of the T3
- if the T3 locks up, reset it using the rear reset button. It may be also necessary to erase the GPS receiver from the trusty devices list and reconnect it, redoing the GPS receiver installing procedure

Hope it is clear enough!
Good luck.
