WebDoctoring the Palm Pre is less painful than it used to be

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - March 25, 2010

Ever since WebOS 1.4 was released we've had issues with our Palm Pre. We finally gave in a WebDoctored the Pre, and things are running much smoother, though not perfect.

As we all know, it's very hard to brick the Palm Pre. You can wipe everything and re-install which is known as WebDoctoring. The problem in the past is you'd lose all your settings and the restore process only gave you back half of what you lost. Palm has done a lot of work in this area and it's a lot better than it used to be.

We first went to the link below and gave Palm our serial number. They in turn gave us the correct version of WebDoctor. We downloaded and ran it, and a few minutes later we were good to go. All of our content was left alone so we didn't lose much. The Launcher apps were all in the same place they were before, and our high-res contact photos were all in tact. All of our programs were still there except for a few Homebrew Apps and those were easily re-applied. We lost all of our texts and chats, but not our emails.

After WebDoctoring we have a few issues. When we launch the email app we are prompted with a list of all email accounts and asked if we want to add more. That's frustrating. Not all of the sluggishness is gone. Moving between Launcher panels is still sometimes slow, but improved.

If you're thinking of WebDoctoring your Pre don't hesitate. It's much smoother than it was in the past. If you would like to WebDoctor your WebOS phone, hit the link below.
