palmOne Profits Up Thanks To Treo 650

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - July 01, 2005

palmOne dramatically improved the Treo line of smartphones with the release of the Treo 650. They made several improvements to the Treo 650 and the response has been quite good. In fact, PalmOne Inc., said yesterday that its profit surged 33 percent in its fourth quarter because of increased Treo sales.

For the three months ending May 31, PalmOne earned $17.7 million, up from $13.3 million, a year earlier. Revenue jumped 26 percent to $335.8 million from $267.3 million last year.

"We're very pleased with the company's performance during the quarter and the fiscal year," said Ed Colligan, palmOne president and chief executive officer. "Our carrier and channel partners reported very strong sell-through on Treo smartphones for the quarter -- a 250 percent increase over the comparable quarter last year and 57 percent more than in the third quarter of fiscal year 2005."
