The latest rumor around the web is that Dell will contract palmOne to make a Windows Mobile based Treo. Several web sites are reporting the same rumor although no specific details about such a device is known.
This could happen but we won't believe it until we see it. It does not seem to make a lot of sense for Dell, who is already making their own PDAs, to contract palmOne to make a smartphone for them.
palmOne has admitted recently that it has investigated using Windows Mobile on some of its products, but they did not go as far as admitting to any specific devices, or contracts with other companies.
We'll have to chalk this one up to a rumor until something else materializes.
